Working at ionGrid

ionGrid launched Nexus, our flagship product to enable mobile workers to work with their documents on iPad, in November. Currently, everyone on the team can either write software or help with the visual design. We're all experienced, easy to work with, and focused on building great products. We are located in Mountain View, CA. We're a young startup where every new person makes a big difference, but we also offer good salaries, great medical benefits, free meals, and more.

If you are interested in one of the positions below, or if you know of a good candidate, please email us at jobs [at] iongrid [dot] com. We are not currently looking for inbound requests from recruiters, but we will gladly send an iPad or other cool 'thank you' to anyone who refers someone that we hire. Thanks!

It's really fun working at a place where I know everyone, and know the product in such great detail!

— Whitney M.

I've never worked anyplace that's as focused on building great products as we are here.

Server Software Engineer

ionGrid's solution is created in part as a native tablet app, and in part as server software. The
server must be high performance, very reliable, and runs as a mix of in-house software and
third-party technologies which we integrate into the system.

Specific qualities we look for include:

  • Experience delivering high quality, on-time software, which can work robustly under load
  • Excellent grasp of computer science fundamentals (algorithms and data structures matter to us)
  • Much of our server is written in Java today, so real-world experience in Java is obviously very helpful
  • Good grasp of one or more flavors of SQL (or noSQL-like DBs)
  • Must be a great cultural fit with the rest of the team
  • Experience can be anywhere between being a recent college grad, and 10-15 years of professional dev experience
  • As is typical in startups, an ability to thrive in an ever-changing environment is a must

Bonus points for:

  • Security / crypto experience
  • Distributed systems and scalability (including use of cloud systems such as AWS)
  • Being incredibly passionate about performance of the system

The client application communicates with the server to manage users and their documents, and to render those documents in high fidelity on the tablet. We are looking for engineers who can help us build our client into a world-class solution for tablet users. Specific qualities we look for include:
