Secure
Corporate documents contain sensitive and privileged information, so ionGrid designed Nexus with data security at its core, an underlying philosophy that manifests in three concepts: information location, information protection and information control. Nexus extends a company's existing content stores to mobile devices both within and outside the enterprise network, without compromising data security or IT policies and protocols.

Information Location
When viewing documents via the Nexus app, files continue to reside behind the company's firewall, whether on Windows file shares, or in enterprise content management systems such as SharePoint. Nexus never copies documents to external or cloud-based storage. Instead, it streams files, downloading the document page by page in real time; all existing IT data protection mechanisms remain in full force and user credentials are verified at the time of access.
Information Protection
Documents are always encrypted and pages stream over an SSL connection from the company's server to the iPad, offering the same level of protection afforded to major secure web destinations, such as banking sites and financial exchanges.
If your corporate IT policy permits client-side caching, some pages may be temporarily stored on the mobile device. All such pages are protected through the same AES standard encryption that has been adopted by the U.S. government. The encryption key is tied to the user's repository password and never stored on the device, ensuring that data is protected in the case of device loss or theft.
In addition to secure streaming and document encryption, Nexus implements sandboxing, protecting Nexus data from other applications on the device. Even if a malicious program is surreptitiously installed, the device's cache is secure from outside access. For the most sensitive documents, client side caching can be disabled entirely.
Information Control
ionGrid lets IT professionals configure precise security policies for information access. These policies can include information about the user's account, location, and file content. Policies operate in addition to and on top of the existing file-based access rules enforced by underlying file servers and content management systems.
This allows for the implementation of sophisticated access filters, such as: "This collection of documents may be accessed by the sales team from outside the company network, but only while their tablets are physically located in the United States.” Any new policies employed by the system may only add additional restrictions, eliminating the possibility that existing controls can be bypassed.
